May SAT CR Thread

wasn’t internal compass question like… how chimpanzees in factory and internal compass of humans are similar? like both feel affection towards the others? idk.

Sentence Completions

14/19

ostensibly(not salient)
squalid(not cataclysmic)
tycoon/philanthropist
ludicrously
archeaologist
ferocity…contentious (not accuracy/inexact)
fanciful…exploit(about children’s books being inaccurate)
reticent(timid employees)
nourishment
captivated
commonplace…startling
outcomes/results…nominal
cleanliness
plagiarize
interdisciplinary

Ludicrously? I barred that out without even considering it, I’m fairly sure it had nothing to do with the sentence.
Wow, I did horrible on CR this time.

@yellowroses, @cookiemonster
i really think CC was wrong about that one, the question was like, based on lines
“Not perceiving his drift yet, and thinking it always desirable for the sake of peace and quietness to be on the lawyer’s side, I said I thought so too. Mr. Franklin went on.”
why did butler say this or something like that
and i guess us 3 put beligerent, and the rest of CC put deferential, can someone explain that please?!?

Jimmy797 - it definitely was not ludicrously. This has been talked about a LOT in the thread, but most of us are very confident in “succinct.” Not sure why it was changed on the list.

its wasn’t ludicrously, last people said that, they got raped, its definitely succinctly

How long does it usually take before we get our scores?

Scores are out May 20th

God I’m so anxious… I think I missed 3 questions, hoping to get that 2300… damn :(

is there any reason why it was fits and bursts over sudden whims? i didn’t see one in this thread, just the assumption that it was correct.

that’s exactly what i remember. i’m glad i’m not the only one…

did anybody else put belligerent?

I think it was ludicrously because it means it lacks depth and seriousness because it is funny looking, and also the pictures were drawn by a cartoonist, who draw ludicrously not succinctly…

Deferential means respecting someone who is superior or elder, even sometimes reluctantly.

The butler was deferential because he didn’t want to start a fight or a dispute with the lawyer, so he stayed shut up.

So he reluctantly stayed quiet to avoid anything.

The word economical gives away that the answer is succinctly.
Economical means that he made drawings that ensured that his ink would not be wasted.

There’s a question in the blue book that went along the lines of: “The teacher wanted her students to be ___ and favored an economical way of writing rather than a ___ prose one.”
The answer was terse/dull or something like that.
Here also, economical shows that the teacher wants her students to be concise in their writing rather than rambling on.

What was the question for ferocity-contentious??

It HAS to be succintly, because of the economy thing. Also, cartoonists draw their cartoons simply and briefly.

wazza: ferocity/contentious was about teh 19th century scientist strongly arguing about a theory

what’s the question and other choices for “Lawyer does not want the story to be based on SPECULATION and HEARSAY” did this ask something like tell a personal story and no further, why the lawyer said “no furthter”
and what are the other choices with 10) Robinson Crueso: a warning that butler should have heeded

yes…speculation and hearsay is that NO FURTHER thing…
10) i cant remember…

wasnt there a question about what the type of personality the guy after refusing to believe that the butler didnt have the necessary abilities to undertake such an activity?
what did you guys put?
i said that he didnt listen to what other people said or something along those lines
