May SAT CR Thread

I put something with private sentiments. I don’t remember that question well enough though.

any consensus on what the chimpanzee’s were doing…Hopefully it wasn’t “cracking nuts” …

well I tought it was the one with “imitating human actions”?

^ I said the same. But who knows… Seems like the consensus is it was cracking nuts which for some reason seems to retarted. w/e

I’m retaking in June anways

What about the zig zag path one!! Nobody seems to be worried about that one!!

^ what was the exact question?

^ It was something relating to the meaning of it. I think it was how that the string theory could be the last turn in the zig zag and research is not there yet to make it go forward. Maybe that will get you to remember it.

@best91hs but wouldn’t the lawyer being beligerent be the opposite of wanting “peace and quietness”, so the answer would be beligerent??

That cartoonist question bothered me, too. If it helps anyone, I remember the sentence almost perfectly…

“Like cartoonists, some painters choose to show character _________, but this economy of means is not artistic shallowness.”
A) precociously B) ludicrously C) sinuously D) *tenaciously? E) succinctly

It really bothered me, because I knew all the words, just not what the sentence was supposed to suggest… I originally thought ludicrously, because cartoonists tend to do that, but I eventually decided that “economy of means” and “not artistic shallowness” fit better with succinctly. I will stay by that answer I think.

@Azif-As for the monkeys cracking nuts, I also hope that was not correct lol… I don’t remember what I put, but it may have been something about working together or accomplishing tasks? It would be helpful if anyone could remember the other choices.

@pqr- the question asked how the narrator’s attitude towards the lawyer could best be described, not the other way around. If he thought it was always best to be in agreement/ on the lawyer’s side, that is quite the opposite of belligerent. I believe the passage said that he nodded his head in agreement, because he knew from experience that it is best to be on the lawyer’s side- this shows him deferring, or being deferential to the lawyer’s opinion.

@cjester, thank you! i read the question wrong x.x

does anybody know the stories that were in the experimental english

The one about venice

I realize the prudent question has been debated at length and I can see how that could be the answer. However, I feel that ‘sentimental’ may be more applicable. By definition, sentimental is “resulting from feeling”. The question, if i remember correctly, was asking the what the mother’s view or approach to the situation of telling her daughter she would be attending college as well. The last sentence stated that she would tell her daughter once they have enough time to miss each other. Therefore, I think an argument could be made that she is relying on feeling and emotions to make her decision.

is cracking nuts right or wrong?

I chose imitating human work methods or something

^I chose cracking nuts. I believe the question asked which could be inferred, and the passage talked about nut trees and the monkeys using tools around them, so how could you infer anything else.

^ it definetley said “infer”, but nowhere was it mentioned that there were nut and trees.

Does anyone have the “exact” or close to exact passage?

I remember something like, “chimpanzees hammering and making noises or something”

Only if we had the passge… you could be right , prolly are still…

“1) lawyer wants: many people offer their narration of the story and together come up with ONE story”

I think you worded the answer wrong.

It was for them to make their own narratives or something.

Can anyone find the actual passage of the chimpanzee one? Because I’m agonizing over the cracking nuts question

Sherriuden, I am about 98% sure that the passage talked about how they walked to a clearing which had nothing but some nut trees in which the monkeys were around or something like that.
