thumper1, like you I believe the scores for D are just not there. On the kid's board they are surmising, and it seems they are surmising correctly, that only repeat takers who had their scores sent to colleges are getting SAT 1 scores today.

That must be the case, Curmudgeon. My D's scores are not up yet, either. Although she did choose to send her scores to some colleges, it is her first time to take the SAT, so maybe that's the reason they're not there. Guess we'll just have to wait until Monday. Arrrrggghhhh.

My niece's scores are still not up. She took 2 SAT IIs in May and was having the scores sent to colleges. She previously took SAT I in March.

Good luck to all you with rising seniors reading out those SAT scores in the next days and weeks.

Carolyn, you are gonna have such stories to tell some day....between the SAT score saga last time and then the unreceived application for summer college program and.....

Well, let's just say that I feel confident that at the end of this ride, there is gonna be a happy girl going off to college!
Susan

OK, somehow I'm not following directions correctly. D just took SATI for the first time and did not ask for them to be sent to colleges, so maybe her scores aren't up yet BUT I don't even see the place that says "Send Scores To Colleges" on the College Board website after I log her in (with her permission, mind you!) Is it on the page where you sign in, or on the page that comes up after you sign in? If someone could please offer really simple directions, I'd be grateful, as my anxiety around these *&^% scores has me a bit befuddled. Thank you!

Tried again. Breathed deeply and found the "send to colleges" window, opened thinking that perhaps I could add a college (They're going to see the scores eventually, so what the hey.) so that D would have scores waiting to be sent that the computer could then accidently reveal, but no dice. I got the message that there are no scores that can be sent at this time. If anyone finds away around this, do tell.

It's not the user-friendliest site . . . My D has added and deleted a top choice since the last time she selected four colleges, and it's not easy to see how to change the four selections. I can find how to add one for $9, but how to delete one is less obvious. It seems that you need to "add" one you alrady have in order to have it on the screen to delete it? And then, will you still owe the $9? And do they send the scores because you've named the four, or do you have to request that they be sent? My D's record of sent scores says "Request Still Pending" for her scores from a year ago.

Just curious...is the "critical reading" score another word for the old SAT I verbal, or do they give some kinds of subscores now? (my youngest is a h.s. senior so he thankfully missed this whole SAT change.

Critical Reading = former Verbal. Same score, new name.

Did the CB curse get broken, or are you once again waiting for your daughter's scores? My daughter's scores were posted sigh; she met the minimum threshold I was hoping for, but if her ACT scores don't come in higher, it's back to the (test prep) books.

This whole score thing has me bolloxed. This was D's first SAT (since the 7th grade) and she did better than I had dared hope, but not good enough to say-"done".( I'd be done. No doubt.) But the way her scores came out, she has a pretty easy chance of improvement. 730 CR,740 Math, 690 W w/ a 9 essay. 2160. Or I guess for Georgetown, I think it is , a 1470 as the adcom said they weren't going to look at the writing. Of course, Gtown is not on her list, that would be too easy.

Curmudge...if my daughter gets YOUR daughter's scores we will be dancing in the streets. She has not yet been able to access her scores, but we suspect she will have scores that are in the low 600s (if even that high) on the subtests. She will retake the test in October.

thumper1. Dad's dancing. Dad's "hope" was 2050,"wish" was 2100, 2160 is well into "gravy" range for me. D is wired a little differently . I'll be ready with plenty of statistical ammo ,though. Just in case she's unhappy. ( as in Hey kid, you are over the 75th at Centre and Rhodes! and over the average at Penn!!!and Bowdoin!!!and Williams!!and Swat!!!)

O.K. She's up and fairly pleased. (hallelujah.) She said CR is great. Math is about what she expected but maybe a little low and that writing was "not so great". She will retake in June but all in all, she's pretty happy with a 2160 (PSAT was 210 so that kinda fits, CR and Math PSAT was a 143 which suggests that the 1470 for those two components is about right ,too. First ACT was a 32 which is a 1410-1450, supposedly. This appears to be a consistent showing.)

Do you guys know if the College Board makes mistakes very often? Niece is a top student, got about 1400 equivalent on SAT I, took Calc at a college as a junior in hs, is in honors chem (you get the picture). She got 570 on Math II and 530 on Chem. These scores are 13th percentile and 22nd percentile. Means she only got about 18 right! She did prepare, thought the tests were "hard", but not THAT hard! Ihave never seen scores this low, much less from this kid! It's almost like these are not even her scores. a 710 on Chem is 76th percentile. Isn't that strange?

momofwildchild, can you call the collegeboard and ask to see the score sheet? Maybe she erased a lot and didn't get it all erased? It seems strangely low to me, too. I don't know, I feel badly for her. :-(

MWC, anything that aberrant deserves a check. JMO.

MWC, my girls did very well on the SAT2s, but not as well on the SAT1s. With the math and sciences, it is tough to do well percentile wise because there are so many kids who take those tests who do super well. 800s are not uncommon.

MWC ~ Every now and then a kid makes the classic mistake of stopping to consider and answer, and deciding to come back to it later. Then they answer all of the other questions putting the answers in the wrong bubbles because one has been skipped. Since this can happen at any point in the test, the effect can be large or small, but never good.

I hope this did not happen to your niece. But if it did, it will show up when you give her a practive test at home. If there is a 200 point difference, then she is probably the (un)lucky kid for this test sitting...
