If your focus in the MBA is Corporate Finance you will learn a lot about valuation, corporate financial structure, M&As, etc. These topics aren’t typically an area of expertise for CPAs so it helps give them a more strategic feel for finance. </p>
<p>The overall opinion seems to be that it is not necessary to take this path, but it can help. The added knowledge gained in an MBA in Finance with a focus in a Corporate Finance can help a CPA transition in to industry. You should take in to account the cost of attendance as well as lost wages from attending a full-time program.</p>
