MBA or ED.D

Hi,

I was offered admission to a MBA program at William and Mary and a Doctorate program in HR at a state college, both are online/hybrid programs.I am having trouble deciding which one to enroll in.

My background 10 years of HR management experience, I have a bachelors and a masters in HR. I do well in my career salary level now, but I’d want to progress into some additional areas I’d like to adjunct teach hr/business courses as well as develop my side business focused on an area of HR. With my masters’ degree, I’m having trouble getting an adjunct position, my master’s degree is from a good school, but there’s a want for Ivy or Top Schools in my area.

If I get the MBA - I’d want to eventually get a doctorate, my current company doesn’t pay for education, however with the MBA I could apply for another job with a company that I know will pay up to 200k for the doctorate degree.

The MBA cost is 56k the doctorate degree from the state school is 30k. The state school doesn’t have the ability to graduate teacher which is what I wanted in a doctoral program, however it is cheaper, but they thought of “you get what you pay for keeps coming to mind”

I’m fairly young at 28, I can’t do brick and mortar programs right now due to very young kids, but I could in about 10 years (maybe, if my career doesn’t have me traveling).

Any thoughts on which one you would enroll in?

the MBA is more versatile and I think would open more doors and more opportunities for you
