MC discussion

Can anyone else chime in on the question that asked what device was used for lines 7-10? I could have sworn contradiction was not an option, so I reluctantly chose justification. If I looked over the option while hastily going through the test then I will be very mad with myself.

And also, does anyone recall the question about the use of reading where an option involved boredom?

i remember the boredom question psat, but the passage had nothing to do with boredom. that’s the same question as the solace question

@PSAT, do you remember that boredom questions on the passage about reading?

Oh, another question. What was the answer to the question that stated “How does the author think the day jobs of (Insert names I forgot) affected their social status”? I put that it was entirely unimportant or something like that. The wording of the choice seemed a bit too strong but it made most sense to me.

The question asked what the author felt the purpose of reading was. While reading the article I recalled that the author’s teacher gave him poems to read when “he had no books to read” or anything else to do. In the concentration camp, the man entertained his fellow inmates with stories of valor or something like that. While I didn’t like the wording of the answer choice which stated that “books blah blah boredom”, I chose it.

@PSAT, I think I but how he has intelligence? I’m not exactly sure though… For sure I didn’t put boredom

but knowing what a concentration camp is, the people wouldn’t be listening to stories just because they were bored. they were constantly being tortured and needed a source of solace to keep them going and give them inspiration. and the fact that it was said right after the ‘no other books to read’ part just kinda sealed it for me. and i have legit no memory of that other question haha, sorry!

OH WAIT I REMEMBER IT. it said that they were already somewhat prominent or something like that and when they became more and more successful it ‘certainly couldn’t have hurt to have had the previous position’. so the answer wouldn’t be no effect, but rather ‘contributing’. if that’s the right question! haha

Did we have different tests… Because I don’t remember the concentration camp???

well it didn’t explicitly say concentration camp, i think. it mentioned the name of a concentration camp which i happened to know because i go to a jewish school and just learned about the holocaust luckily! so that was kinda like second nature for me, but not entirely fair on the collegeboard’s part. but it did mention prisoners though

You’re talking about the dbq essay right? What factors did you guys choose?

I said the actions of the individual (Columbus is actually not a great hero who deserves this statue), planning beforehand (no financial resources or respect for the lobster guy), and appropriate location (holocaust museum wanting to be in DC).

Sorry I’m so late but
@diddly-I don’t quite remember but I know I definitely did not put down provocative for that mc

Does anyone remember that question about women where it asks in lines like 60-74ish what do the things listed mean?
one of the choices was that it describes the various jobs/opportunities that can be uncovered for women.

Eddysgotmilk-I put down reiterate advances already made by women.
I was stuck between that and reiterate but since two women were listed specifically that already made advances, and women already are leaders in their homes, I went with reiterate.

As for the question about those still under servant status in the Victorian passage, I put down tentative hypothesis?? That question was just weird.

I dont recall provocative either, I put down ironic? Provocative sounded too romantic about a guy comparing useful things to a latrine

eddysgotmilk i got what you got
