so the time has come to worry about this...out of the four...kaplan, princeton, berkeley, and swartwood...which is the best?

non of them, buy a MCAT prep book and study yourself.

not enough motivation…now please someone hrelp me choose

^your statement is horribly ironic.

+1 for self-study…EK 10 week is good and you could get kaplan/princeton review study aides off the internet (ebay, amazon, ,…)

lol i think swartwood is weird. spamming cs 50 like mad.

my roommate take classes at kaplan

where does one go if one needs MUCH more content review than test-taking strategy?

^
to class

One roommate took swartwood and said it was a scam. good for verbal but everything else was a joke. She stopped going to class after a while. No tests and no books.

Another roommate took berkeley and loved it. She did pretty well.

I will definitely take berkeley sometime next year.

Hi,

You must work for BR. B/c everyone I know (including myself) says that Swartwood runs circles around BR.

The reason why I’m so big on this is because my friends, N., Albert, and I took BR and then Swartwood. After Berkeley, I was soooo stressed. Their bio and verbal was horrible. Their physical sciences were ok. I was sitting at a 28.

But, Swartwood was incredible. Swartwood was good at everything. I just got my scores back (11, 12, 11) 34 :).

You should just go see all of the classes for yourself. Then, it will be clear (or at least it was for us)! We all agreed that John blew away any of the BR teachers.

Sorry, just my opinion b/c Swartwood saved our lives! 34 might not seem super good to you but it’s great for me and sure beats a 28.

If you’re into material, I heard PR has lots of it. I don’t like the EK books.

Bwahahaahaha!!! Could you be any more obvious about being a Swartwood recruiter?

I ghost here quite often and have read tons of posts, and not one has ever sounded more like a promotion pamphlet. I ghost at a couple other sites and funny thing I found. The name Kelly1989 was banned for spamming at a very popular premed site. Wonder why they banned you there–hmmmmm!

So as am employee of Swartwood, why do you come on and make up stories? You don’t think people talk on campus. Friends in AMSA say Swartwood is horrible and that a couple people coundn’t get there money back this past session when they wanted out. My PhiDE and AED friends tell me the same thing. The teachers are terrible except for John at verbal, who I heard good things about for just verbal. Many of the classes are taught by his students, and they just aren’t very good according to pretty much everyone. So if the premeds I know say it was horrible and I don’t recognize any of the names and people you show in your flyers (which is complete overkill by the way), why would I believe a Swartwood employee pretending to be a student writing an unbias reply on an anonymous website?

Best of luck trying to sell lies and a bad course. Say hi to “Albert N” for me… <rolls eyes=“”></rolls>

This is sooo unprofessional. You are clearly a Berkeley Review instructor, dude.
If you haven’t even taken the course, why are you so mad? It’s obvious otherwise you wouldn’t be that invested.

Also, we pre-meds do not call our friends “So if pre-meds I know”-- only old instructors do that. We call each other “friends.” DON’T be JEALOUS. This SWARTWOOD guy is just naturally talented. He’s just way better. My friends and I who really are UCLA students know that everyone is talking about SWARTWOOD in a good way.

It’s not the flyer, man. It’s all the former students talking about how killer the course is.
I was skeptical myself at first, so I went by and sat in. Now, I’m in the class.

Don’t make mistakes and name groups like PhiDE. I’m a member and my friend’s an officer. We asked SWARTWOOD to come by and (as far as I know), we were impressed.
Now, 6 of my buddies and me are in the class.

Who are your PhiDE friends? Don’t lie b/c I know everyone in PhiDE (it’s not that big).
I also met a girl named Kat. She’s really into AMSA and says that everyone she knows only says good things.

You can say whatever you want, but if you’re ACTUALLY a student who has friends, then you know everyone who’s seen John says he’s the best. That’s why the class is growing. Lie all you want but these forums don’t really do much.

Once people see the class, they’ll know you’re full of it. What you’re saying is so off.
How do you think it’s going to hold up?

Don’t be bitter. Trash talk doesn’t stop students from going to SWARTWOOD. They just do a great job teaching. If you did the same, you wouldn’t have to be harassing people on a public post.

Also, I’d be careful about posting random things. I’m forwarding this stuff to John and Val. You really have no clue how much students like his program. We tell John everything.

But hey- if you’re for real man, go sit in on both classes. I bet you money, you’ll pick SWARTWOOD. From your post though, it’s clear you’re a BR teacher, not a student.

premedbruin,

You’re such a POSER!!! Who call himself premedbruin? Who ghosts websites like this. That’s sad, sad, sad. How do you know kelly was banned? Is that public info? Are you an admin? Doesn’t sound like a student to me.

Give it up! I’m taking Princeton Review. Princeton trumphs Berkeley review.

To all the Swartwood/BR/whoever you are with newly registered accounts that only have one post:

…y’know, it would be nice to stop this spamming and rather inauthentic “testimonies” about Swartwood, BR, PR, and other programs on this forum. Heck, you would probably have more success if you just kept getting Chris and his girlfriend to wear those “MCAT 42” t-shirts in the Court of Sciences and advertising that way to a larger group of pre-meds rather than the more limited population on CC.

Wow, so many single-digit/new posters. Way to be subtle

I did the EK 10 week but also supplemented it with problems from BR books and their class handouts that I got from a friend instead of doing the 1001 problems from EK. If there were sections I did terrible in, I would review the orange side notes in EK and read through those sections in the more dense BR books. I took all the MCATs released by the AAMC one month prior to taking the actual MCAT (giving myself enough time to review, although you could probably condense it even shorter). I think EK is fine because I would not have remembered every minute detail in the BR books (they were good for heavy reviewing later on though when you find your weaknesses), but their problems were really, really good especially for chemistry and physics. I don’t know about their actual class, but their class handouts were great too. I don’t know how the actual BR class is like, but if you can, I would befriend people to photocopy the problems from their BR books and save yourself the $1000+. I ended up with a 12/11/12. If you need the extra motivation sign up for a class and from my biased resources I would recommend BR, but you are going to need to self-study the majority of the materials anyways so just save yourself the time, design a schedule, find some friends (maybe even ones that are taking courses that are generous enough to share), and just stick it out (reward yourself with a laptop later on with your saved money or something)

swartwood is a scam. everyone knows. im sorry to say, but putting up 100 flyers in young hall actually does the opposite of what you expect.

they’re quite defensive too

You guys are so cute pretending not to be fake.

This is my first time on the forum. I don’t really care about posting, but I do care about PhiDE. I’m a member. My friends and I (pretty much everyone in PhiDE) love Swartwood. In fact, our spring president just joined Swartwood. Regardless of what you think. Don’t lie about PhiDE.

zzzboy, how can you say that? You’ve never been in class. If you had, you’d be singing a different tune. (Of course, I’m super biased just like everyone.)

I think though that “everyone” is really inaccurate since “everyone” I know loves John and Laurie. Plus, my class was so big (over 50) that they had to break it in 2. I think there are like 2 other classes as well.

I think John and Laurie are the best. But that’s my opinion.
Unlike zzzboy though
- I’ve have friends in the class that did PR, Kaplan, and BR and they agree.
- I’ve seen BR and PR for myself, and they don’t compare.
- I lost all respect for Todd when he sent my friend an email about Swartwood (attacking only Swartwood). Shouldn’t he worry about PR. Todd seemed really desperate. Why is he so paranoid of Swartwood? Maybe PR is taking his students???
- I can forward you his email (sent to me directly from his email) as well as the names and emails of my friends who did BR but have switched over with me. They took the course last year.

That’s my 2 cents. If you want to talk trash, why don’t you have me forward the email or list first? Regardless, please don’t mention any lies about PhiDE (I think was premedbruin actually, but in case). It bugged my friend so much, he had me get on here and write.
Say what you want----I’m DONE!!! Stanford Med (13,12,14)— yeah.
If you want to talk trash to me- do it to my face. I’d be impressed if you could tell me off-- most guys can’t when they see me yeah, I’m smart and have it going on (wink).
