So, at first i thought you didn't have to take the MCAT if you got into a BS/MD program, But i heard about some schools where you still have to take. Does PSU or NEOUCOM need you to take it to apply? Does anyone know what schools you do need the MCAT for? If so it would be great if anyone could list them. Please and thanks

You don’t take it when you apply, you take it near the end of your BS part of the BS.MD program.

Coldsoldier - PSU-Jefferson, Villanova-Drexel both require you to take MCAT before you are eligible for medical school. My cousin who is finishing medical school told me something that I think is worth repeating. Taking the MCAT is a good thing. It is good practice as after second year medical school you will need to take USMLE. Now before anyone comes after me for this advice, I am in no way saying that MCAT and USMLE are similar. just that you have to get used to taking standardized tests.

It is not bad at all to take MCAT, especially when in a program that allows you to apply out while retaining your spot in a program. Actually it opens whole lot of opportunities while giving you security and confidence that you got at least one spot.

You should definitely not rule out programs just because they require you to take the MCAT. Its really not a big deal. Most programs require you to maintain a minimum GPA and get a minimum MCAT score…but you’re probably not going to have a problem meeting those. Watch out for some programs though, I know the WashU program requires a 3.8 GPA and 36 MCAT.

But yeah if it requires like a…27-30ish, you really shouldn’t have a problem getting that score with even some minimal studying if you are qualified enough to get into one of these programs already.
