I'm trying to decide whether to take mcb 102 or 104 this semester. Which class, in your opinion, is easier and why? I have a pretty heavy load with other classes and I know that technically 102 is a pre-req to 104 (or must be taken concurrently) but it doesn't seem like 104 requires a lot of biochemistry. I'm leaning towards 104 because I feel that ochem/biochem is a weak point for me, but I'm worried that later on in 104 I'll need to know stuff from 102. I'd love to get some opinions, especially from those who have taken both already.

I haven’t taken 104, only 102, but I would think 104 is harder. 102 has a lot of non-MCB students which I think makes the exam curves more generous. Ochem is not the same as MCB 102… the 1st section of 102 is more experiment-based, 2nd section more chem-y but is ALL memorization no ochem synthesis or mechanism stuff, and 3rd section is Molecular Biology. I found 102 to be a lot more like Bio 1A in detail than like ochem. I have also heard that 104 is more time-consuming than 102.
