McCombs Internal Transfer

I understand that students have to take Calculus I & II, Macro, Micro, and MIS but other then these courses, what else is required? Iv'e been looking at UT and McCombs web site as well as the UT catalog but I don't see any information with regards to Writing Comp (I only took Writing Comp I at UTSA and my advisor said that was all I needed), Rhetoric, Sciences, and Fine Arts?

Can anyone help me out?

As for Calculus I, I'm confused as to what I need to take in order to transfer because when I search for classes only M 408 K, D, L, and C are shown! What happened to the K, L, and M route?

There are two links which explain the Calc part but I'm confused:

Thanks for all or any help guys!

i am trying to get into mccombs internally next year also. have you been to the orientation yet? they will have an session at the orientation on how to apply to transfer to the college of business.

these website shows more specific classes required for mccombs and a specific major.

i know a couple of people who took M408K and 408L sequence. i think they are easier than C and D sequence. i am not exactly sure so i would make sure again with an adviser.

The K, L, M sequence is still around. I just checked the class schedule and it is showing there. However, for McCombs, you do not need to take it. Instead, you are required to take Cal I and II, which is defined by either K and L or C with D, since C alone does not fulfill the I and II requirement.

Also to transfer internally, you will need a minimum of 24 hours at UT.

So, is the K and L route cover Calc I & II requirement and is it generally speaking…easier?

Thanks yall’!

Yes, it will cover it and yes it is easier. They cover less material and at a more reasonable rate.

they go strictly off GPA, starting from 4.0 and working their way down

take 408K and 408L, micro and macro and a bunch of filler classes and you should be good. it’s really not difficult, contrary to what the ysay

kfn, I understand the basic requirements to get into McCombs, its just the classes required for business majors in general that concerns me, should I bother taking any of them like Lit, Rhetoric, Visual Arts, etc?

we just need to take calc I, calc II, macro, and micro economics right? Not including MIS right?

You need MIS or you can take the computer test and have it replace the actual class per there website.

“take the computer test and have it replace the actual class per there website”? Please clarify  thx

ikari, IDK why its not listed on this web site:[Degree Information - Advising - Undergraduate Programs - The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin](http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/udean/advising/degree_info/catalog08.asp)

But on:[Undergraduate Programs - The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin](http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/udean/admissions/internal.asp), it states that: Computer Proficiency Test.
All students interested in applying as internal transfers to the McCombs School of Business must complete the Computer Proficiency Test or have credit for MIS 310. The test can be taken at the Instructional Assessment and Evaluation (IAE) Center and is offered on a monthly basis.

For more information see the Computer Proficiency Test webpage.
The Training Team also has review materials available on its web site: [Technology Training - The McCombs School of Business - The University of Texas at Austin](http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/tech/training/tutorials/CPT/index.asp)

I found out today!

if you are internally transfering to UT business, (regular) you only need calc I and calc II and micro and macro economics

if you are internally transfering to Honors Business then you need MIS intro course of whatever. I think thats how it goes

thanks for your help AAli4Real :)

ikari, was it Charles Enriquez who was at that internal transfer thing?

its only a gpa? they dont take in extracurriculars or any professor recommendations?

If you barley miss the minimum GPA, then they will hand pick some students. So that’s when the optional items such as extracurricular activities, honors & awards and other extenuating circumstances will be used in the decision process.

topawala20: yeah it was at the internal transfer thing with Charles Enriquez. lol were you there?

no i wasn’t there recently. i was there on june 15 for the transfer orientation. and i actually met him before that also a few months back.

Damn, its GPA based? shoot… Looks like my chances to the bus. school at UT are slim then. After my freshmen year I’d be happy bringing my GPA to a 2.5 within a year at a CC. Does UT either way have good financial aid to OOS students like Texas A&M does?

"they go strictly off GPA, starting from 4.0 and working their way down

kfn, what do you mean by filler courses. Are there any classes that fulfill the Basic Reqs that you would consider to be filler courses?
