McCombs Statistics

On this site it says that the average GPA of Demographics enrolled of students at McCombs was a 3.43. This seems pretty low…why?..I thought it would be a 3.6-3.7… and an average SAT of 1307(again so low IMO) With that being said, I used the formulas for the AI for business and I got a 3.87. Does anyone know if that is good and what the average gpa is for business students their freshman year?

I feel like knowing how business students there fare in GPA would predict my chances, since the AI formulas are there to predict your GPA your freshman year. Can also someone explain why the GPA average was so low? A 3.43… and an SAT combined of 1307. Does anyone know the average class rank also?

I would suggest if you want your answer you engage in some critical thinking around what the distribution is that makes up the GPA average.

I went to a UT McCombs presentation and they said that the average class rank is usually around the top 1.8% for BHP and between 4 and 5% for regular business.

Also, I took the ACT and SAT and am doing the AI formulas to determine which test I should submit. For the business ACT model, it uses your “engcomp score.” Is this the ACT English score or is this the ELA score from the average of my writing, reading, and English sections? Because I got a 29 on the essay and it brought down my ELA score to a 33. Thanks

@txrunner9728 It is the combined English and Essay section

@txrunner9728 What did you get on the new SAT? You could send that in if you feel that your ACT is not good enough.

Submit all scores. UT uses the one that helps you the most.

I got a 2160 on the old SAT and a 34 composite on the ACT. Thanks!

So it’s the sum of the English and essay scores, not the average? Just making sure

Yes. EnglishComp is the English section and essay score. There is a converter on the ACT website. @txrunner9728

@txrunner9728 McCombs would not care about your composite score. Rather, they care about your Math section(it’s weighed the heaviest) score especially combined with reading on the SAT.
