McGill Admission Decision date?

Hey all,

I'm an international student (Lebanese), and according to the McGill website, my decision date is anywhere between January 16 and May 11. How specific :p I should at least know which month. I applied on September 24, and my transcripts were processed on February 6. So, for those with experience in previous years, any idea when I might get a decision?

Between Jan 16th and May 11.

@oscarUK : So funny -.-

What’s funny is that you can’t work that out for yourself; the website says Jan 16th to May 11th… so why would anyone on an internet forum know any better?

It will come, just be patient.

@oscarUK : why the hell do you always reply like you’ve got an oscar stuck up your ass ? chill out man, just coz you’re all sorted, doesn’t mean everyone else is feeling as confident as you.

@oscarUK: Well I already stated I know it’s between January and May, but I thought that someone with experience on this board from previous years could know exactly when. Your answer is clearly what I’m not looking for. Can you please stop criticizing everyone on this board and just leave us nervous people alone and get a life? I really hope you’re not in engineering this Fall :p

@kanchuka: exactly. Thank you

@

@kanchuka I went through the exact thing last year, and believe it or not I did it without a single panic attack, stress, breakdown, or desperate cry for help. I guess what I find is a lack of maturity in many of the posts; you’re going to university… if you can’t even deal with the application process without the reassurance of random strangers how the hell you expect to go through university is beyond me. If you think being realistic and to the point is bragging or showing off that’s your issue, not mine.

@johnnyhayek Unfortunately it is entirely random, there is no magic formula i.e if you submit your application on X you will hear on date Y. When they get to your application, they will review it and give you an answer as quickly as possible… Whether you are the first or last person to be reviewed is anyone’s guess. Better?

@oscarUK : there’s a fine line between worried and being immature. Besides nobody is having a panic attack, they are just curious and concerned. Anyone would be at times like this. It isn’t reassurance people are looking for. its information. nobody asked you to babysit them, did they ? you’re not being realistic or to the point, you’re just posting useless crap and getting everyone worked up. If you think someone’s questions are indeed ‘immature’ then keep it to yourself. Nobody gives a **** what you think of their questions, they want answers. if you can’t do that then just ****.

That being said your second reply to johnnyhayek is much more useful . keep it up :)

You’re new here clearly, read more posts on this (and indeed other similar forums) and within about 5 seconds you will see multitudes of people panicing and begging for their “chances” to be assessed by random, unaccountable strangers. (This is even more poignant I have noticed when concerning Elite US unis, which is even funnier and more fun to read).

I am being extremely realistic and precisely to the point, I can’t imagine how you could assume otherwise. Just look at the answers I have given on this thread alone for an example of this. The thing people don’t like about my answers is just this; they are realistic and (as often as a I can be) accurate… people don’t like hearing what they don’t want to know, fact of life.

P.S Thanks for the attempted condescending compliment, but if you read that reply and my first reply… you will see that they say the EXACT same thing. My first one is simply put more succinctly.

whatever makes you sleep at night bro :)

If you’re going to use a child’s response at least get it right.

“Whatever helps you sleep at night”.

Okay enough arguing now. oscarUK, your 2nd reply was better, thank you :slight_smile: and you’re right about people who ask strangers to chance them, and you are right that no one should ever depend on answers from this board regarding admission stuff, but please take it down a little. May I ask you what faculty/department you have been accepted to/applied to? Just to try to be more friendly with you :)

I’m going into Arts this year, so you don’t have to worry about bumping into me in engineering. Where you from?

Haha I was just kidding about bumping into you :stuck_out_tongue: I’m from Lebanon. You’re obviously from the UK unless I’m mistaken. So is McGill your top choice in universities?

@oscarUK : im sorry, don’t really give a **** . but yes lets all just get along. no hard feelings ?

@johnnyhayek : i applied for engineering as well. which department u in ?

Kanchuka I’m in ECE. Also applied Computer Science. What about you?

OscarUK: If I may be so bold – If you are already accepted and attending McGill and if everyone on this site is immature and lacking in confidence, why do you continue to participate in CC?

lexmom1993 You may indeed be so bold, however in doing so you have unfortunately been rather inaccurate in your presumptions. I am not yet attending McGill, I’m on a gap year (I’m off travelling soon, so don’t worry you won’t be hearing from me for a few months after this week, yay) however I shall be attending in the Fall. I have never said “everyone is immature and lacking in confidence”, there are certain exceptions to this however.

I participate for a number of reasons;

 1. To help out those where and when I can (this may surprise you but it’s true… ask the right questions and I’m more than happy to help)
 2. For my own enjoyment; after all who doesn’t like a nice discussion
 3. Because I can.

I don’t understand why so many people are attacking oscarUK. I’m not sure how anyone would have interpreted his first few posts as insults, because what he quoted is really the time frame for the release of decisions. It is virtually impossible to predict when anyone will receive a decision. Some may get them earlier, and some may get them later. Unless anyone here is on the admissions committee (which I highly doubt), there is no way to know when any specific person will be notified. I know of one other poster who submitted his/her app even earlier than I did, and he/she still hasn’t heard while I already got accepted.

thats cute.
