I live in the U.S and I am planning on applying for admission to McGill.
I’ve heard from two people that the deadline has passed…yet McGill’s website says the deadline for admission for U.S applicants is January 15th (if I read it correctly). See here: https://www.mcgill.ca/es/undergraduate-admission-guide-2017-18/usa
So which is it? Could they be referring to some other documents that I had to send well in advance?
In all cases the valid information is what the universities’ websites state. Stop listening to other people!
And they could get a surge of applications so make sure to get your application in on-time
In general, the sooner you send in an application to a Canadian school, the more likely you are to get a quicker answer. Universities start sending out acceptances about a week before Christmas, and then on a monthly basis through May. That is not to say that if you send in your application now, you’ll get an answer by Christmas, but sending in your application now will ensure that you’re in consideration for any acceptances that are sent out. You may still be waiting to hear in May.
Some programs do fill up early. It’s not common, but I know of one program at U of T where that happened last year.
I would recommend applying before the end of this month for best chances for admission.
