My school does grading in four quarters, so our first semester (after midterms) grades do not come out until the end of January, almost February. If I’m asked for further review (still says ready to review as of right now), should I just submit my first quarter grades or do I really have to wait until then?
@jm18271 In my D’s case, the request was very specific. They said they want “second quarter” grades.
@SwimmingDad Thanks for the ongoing encouragement. My D really likes McGill, too. She has visited multiple times (including winter time!), and attended the two week Summer Academy. She stayed in New Rez, went to classes, got to know the city, and talked at length with current students. She feels she has a good handle on the culture and expectations there (which I feel is important, as McGill is not the right fit for everyone). She actually has three favorite schools: McGill, UBC, and USC. She will see how acceptances and merit offers shake out. She’s NMSF, so USC would likely be half tuition, assuming she gets in. McGill offers a unique opportunity for Linguisitcs students, and is an unbelievable value for dual citizens.
@ShrimpBurrito How was McGill’s Summer Academy? Fun? Worthwhile? Thanks!
@citymama9 Absolutely. The only complaint D had was the food, but she’s rather spoiled at home. I did a write-up somewhere–I’ll find it and link here.
It filled up very quickly.
Thanks a bunch!!! @ShrimpBurrito
When are more people going to start getting decisions? Feels really late
Does anyone have any info on/insight into how American students have enjoyed McGill?
@glblhealthnerd There are a couple of threads way back here in CC about that. You will have to search for them.
Here are a couple of threads from Quora:

@glblhealthnerd My son is a U0. He is incredibly happy. He has worked hard, is suffering through his first set of finals (the rigorous academics are no lie!), and has really enjoyed the dorm life / social life. The school is amazingly diverse; his friend group is made up of Americans, Canadians, a kid from France, a kid from Malaysia, a kid from Nigeria, and a kid from one of the Eastern European countries that I can never remember. He is loving Montreal…what a great city.
The challenges in going to a Canadian school are mostly borne by the parents: figuring out the study permit, bank accounts…lots of logistical stuff like that. But there is a great international parent group that helps out.
The bottom line for my son (in his own words): “Dad, McGill is the best decision I’ve made in my life.”
@NYapper yes, my first quarter had ended by that point.
i just submitted my own first trimester grades. They accepted them as “mid year” and I was admitted shortly after
Congrats, @pampampampam !
Hey guys quick question, I got “Admitted Pending Final Results” but I’m not really sure what that means. What’s the difference between this and “admitted”? Thanks!
@LH7reloaded I’m pretty sure it means you’re in, as long as your grades don’t tank. Congratulations! You will probably have to submit your final senior grades.
Do you mind sharing your stats?
@LH7reloaded “Admitted Pending Final Results” is the norm for McGill. Just keep up your grades and you’ll be fine. When you submit your final transcript at the end of the year it will become Admitted.
Congratulations!
Ohhh thanks so much! @SwimmingDad @ShrimpBurrito and yes i’ll share my stats
Faculty: Agric Environ Sci (B Sc Agr & Environmental Sciences) and Faculty of Science (BSc Biol, Biomed & Life Sci) both “admitted pending final results”
Citizenship status: US high school, international with US green card
UW GPA: i go to a private school that doesn’t use the 0-4 or 0-100 scale
SAT: 1520 (super score, took it twice, got 1500 total on both)
Subject tests: French 750, Bio 720, Chem 700, Math 800
Any pertinent major entrance scholarship information: none
Accepted to McGill Computer Engineering!!!
I got “Further Review Required”… and I’m a bit annoyed. ~98-99 UW, 35 ACT, 800 subject test & 10 APs didn’t indicate that I was academically qualified enough? My school operates on a semester system, so I don’t get official grades until the beginning of February, but I’ll get a “report card” (progress report) tomorrow that I will upload.
( @ShrimpBurrito, feeling pretty similar to how you & your daughter must feel right now. )
Admitted to Arts (pending final results)
US high school unranked
GPA 4.3
ACT 29
8 AP courses
