McGill Decisions Class of 2022 (Entering 2018)

@CCVA were you admitted to U0 or U1?

It’s strange, there doesn’t seem to be a trend to how people are being admitted.

Accepted! @avocadopal How do I know if I was admitted as U0 or U1?

@skiergirl8 it’s basically if you applied for the freshman program or not. Most Quebec students go into U1 because they have enough credits, but most American students start off in U0 i believe.

Should I be concerned that I’ve been neither accepted nor asked for further review? my application looks exactly the same as when I sent it in October. would that indicate i’ll be rejected? i have a 3.75ish UW GPA and 32 ACT, applied to faculty of arts & inferfaculty arts/science

Is submitting an application now considered to be late? Will it impact when i hear a response?

I submitted mine yesterday and uploaded my transcript

You’re international, right, @Barekk ? Jan 15 is the deadline. You’re fine.

My son tossed an application into the Faculty of Arts last week. He already had an app into Desautels and Science. Oh and he got the “Further Review Required” in two business days. So that’s three FRRs.

@jm18271 Don’t worry. They get lots of applications and simply make a pass at all of them and then keep doing that. It’s a bit disconcerting but it is how it works…just keep checking Minerva. If you get nervous, call them to ensure that you have everything in. Last year, my son found the folks to be really helpful. Also, they did ask most U.S. kids to submit their first semester grades and then decisions were made shortly after that. Good luck!

@writergirl0316 I have similar scores and also got the “Further Review Required,” but I submitted my first quarter grades three days ago and got accepted today! I think they just want some sort of interim grades from most people no matter the academics this year for some reason.

thank you @ShrimpBurrito

@writergirl0316 I had the same and got further review required as well. A few days later it popped up wanting my mid year grades. Since I have a trimester based system and we don’t report grades after the first trimester, I was able to submit them and then I was admitted almost immediately (literally a few hours later). I think they just want to have something from your senior year. You got this!!

decision - 12/13/17

Faculty: Bioengineering and Faculty of Science
Citizenship status: US Canada Dual Citizen, Reside in US
UW GPA: School doesn’t calculate, probably around 3.9
ACT: 34 one sitting
APs: 8 Total, 4 5s, 1 4, 3 taking this year
Private US High School
Any pertinent major entrance scholarship information:no

Left at “Further Review Required”, admitted very shortly after submitting mid year/first trimester grades, would recommend getting them in ASAP if you can

I know we can apply for it, but does anyone know about the likelihood of getting need-based aid for US students?

Is it worth a shot trying to send first quarter grades or just better to wait until the semester ends?

same question as @coolnar88 . my first quarter grades are good but semester are expected to be better (hopefully), should I just wait until those come out?

It’s worth it, I did and was accepted almost right after.

@ttp776 did you receive a request for interim grades? For me it explicitly says Mid yr/second quarter.

I’ve been creeping on the McGill threads every day since September, so I figured it was finally time to make a post! Applied to arts and arts & science, got FRRs from both a few days ago. US citizen, public US high school, 32 ACT, 3.8UW, no entrance scholarship. Semester transcripts come out Dec 21st, and it sounds like most people are hearing back quickly after they upload their midyear grades. Semester GPA will be a 4.0. Hoping for the best…
