McGill in these days?

People say that the McGill university is "no longer prestigious university any more", while some argue that it is recovering, and it still has its prestige. As I'm an international student, I'm not really sure about the general information about the McGill university.

Compared to U of T, is McGill's prestige deteriorating while U of T is growing really rapidly?

Yes. I worked for McGill before (Engineering). It has corrupted by hiring it’s own students for faculty positions. It is recovering. But the harm has been done. I have decided to send my son to u of T.

@Ivyleee is that for the whole McGill or for certain programs only? Interesting fact you revealed regarding your son.

I know the department that I had worked for well. Regarding my son’s choice, what university could he choose? I am only interesting in his application to Ivy League universities. And he should be accepted by my own opinion. However, he was rejected by all. So then I recommended McGill to him according to the reputation. Now we are kin to University of Toronto. He has been accepted by several of the competitive Canadian programs. But I do not know which one is better. Personal view None. But sadly he has no other choices. I am thinking to transfer him to a US university next year or he must study up to PhD.
For McGill, it is certainly not as good as it’s reputation. But we cannot change other people’s opinion, but rather to follow others for a better future. If you only asked for reputation, McGill is still not bad. If you asked for the inside truth, it is not so good. I worked with engineering and now in a US university.

Thanks for the info Ivylee. Good luck with your son’s plans. I am happy with UofT for my kid.
