McGill Internet in REz: Plug in and go?

<p>do we just plug in our network wires and perhaps do a sign-in using our IT service account and go on surfing the internet?</p>

<p>the first month is free...then u gotta pay $350 for a 7 month connection till ur april..</p>

<p>in solin u get some wireless signals..but the quality aint too good....but if do, u can manage u can save the $350...i suggest u get the network tho..its worth it..</p>

<p>someone said that if we live in rvc, we can mooch off mcgill's internet if we have a wireless card. anyone have any experience w/ this? is it possible in the whole building (west wing and tower)?</p>

<p>i am not too sure about tat..i have heard conflicting views..(u definately cant get signal in greenbrier which is on the same street but further up and closer to the miltion gates..i tried in greenbrier)</p>

<p>anyway i dont think the signal is too strong, caz the towers for the wireless are located inside the bulidings and the signal u get outside in the lower field is pretty weak...</p>

<p>yeh u can buy a router with a lot of people and set up wireless in ur rez...i know 4 guys who did it in solin..u can try to get like 10 people with wirless laptops and set up wireless..it will cost u like 40 bucks max each..</p>

<p>hey stephanie, i don't know where you are in rvc, but my room is about as close to campus as possible and i can pick up the wireless signal sometimes, but usually not, and it's not too strong when i do - so definitely don't rely on it for internet. if it's that weak at rvc right across from campus, i doubt that the more houses can pick it up at all, especially the ones that aren't on university.</p>
