McGill parties

I assume that McGill's party scene is different from the typical US college party. But what is the average party like? How many nights per week do Mcgill students party?

Thanks guys!

I wouldn't worry too much about the party scene. If you really wanna party Montreal is there for a reason. You can party any day of the week.

Yeah, for one thing, drinking in college is legal*, so there's no need to hide and it's not the forbidden fruit it may be in the US. Plus Boreale and McAuslan are the official SSMU booze suppliers, so you actually get good beer at SSMU sponsored events too (unfortunately, few undergrads realize or appreciate this, many were unhappy about the switch from Molson).

*technically, the legal drinking age is 18, and usually it's more of a suggestion, unless it's frosh season... Bars don't like American students behaving like 13 y.o. discovering alcohol.

besides for the major campus parties such as frosh and carnival, the city tends to be the source of night life for most students. Since most people live in apartments, you don't get any huge "house parties." It's more common to pregame where ever you/your friends live then go out and enjoy a night in the city.

Oh i definatley been to some big house parties....some ppl who live a bit far have huge places..

first year you pre drink in rez then go out to a bar or club after...
upper years you either have house parties, fart parties, or pre drink somewhere b4 going out..

the amount of partying you do depends on your friends and faculty to some extent...mangement ppl (like me) party a lot because we dont get that much work and we get fridays off...i go pretty much go out thu, fri, sat, and sometimes week days depending on if there is some party...engineers and science kids have it pretty tough..not that much partying

I'm sorry dkm008; what is a fart party?

I think he means Frat (Fraternity) party, lol.

Oh okay, that's understandable. It's just that I'm coming from the U.S. and there will be some slang terms that I won't understand. I assumed "fart party" shouldn't be taken in the literal sense, but it IS college..
