Queen's commerce, Rotman commerce, Desautels and Ivey, which one is the best in Canada? If you guys get offers for those following programs, which one would u go to? Talking about reputation, job, etc?

Rotman Graduate here.

Lots and lots of factors to consider. Particularly what you what field you want to focus on. And if you expect to do well in your first 1-2 years.

However generally.
- Ivey
- Queens
- Rotman, Desautels

Reputation is that order. The first 2 give you a shot at IB and Consulting without being a crazy exceptional student/ candidate, McGill and U of T about the same though I think McGill has a better shot at finance. If you want to do Accounting all of them are huge targets and wouldn’t really matter where you went (external factors matter more here). For Marketing same order, Rotman doesn’t limit your opportunities at all (people have gotten into P&G and Disney etc.) but very few actually got positions in my experience. Might be more of a class selection (everyone in my class wanted to go to accounting) and marketing wasn’t filled with a huge pool of great candidates.

Ivey you have to maintain an 80 average to get in after 2nd year and can be difficult at such a party school (UWO). U of T kicks 2/3rds of their class out after 1st year with no chance to get back in so you may not get the chance to use your later years to bring your grades back up (the college adjustment can claim even smart kids).

Schulich is probably like slightly above the McGill/ U of T level.

All are great schools but for some areas (finance/consulting) being at Ivey and Queens is a significant leg up.

Just some factors to consider.

I think U of T and McGill are the best overall choices. Rotman is my top choice and I chose it over McGill, Queens, Schulich, and Ivey. Being in Toronto opens so many opportunities for internships and recruitment. Also, attending their BCom program gives you a better chance to get into their MBA program, which is undeniably the best in the county. U of T is not only one of the best schools in the country, it is one of the best in the world. Though the program is vigorous, it is worth it for it’s strong international reputation. Also, if you want to get into finance, specifically investment management, this is the place to be, as you will get hands on experience in Toronto’s stock market. Good luck with your decisions! ;)
