mcgill ranks 42 on newsweek ranking

Mcgill ranks 42 on the new Newsweek worldwide ranking. UBC was ranked 31 and Toronto 18.

***?! I rejected Toronto & UBC for Mcgill.

naff- What made you decide McGill over U Toronto? Did you visit both/speak with students? Thanks.

nope. My sis @ Stanford went ard asking her mba mates whether her bro shld choose Mcgill or Toronto. Only 1 dude said GO UTORONTO (he was from Utoronto) While the rest said go Mcgill.

My mum's boss was like "WHAO! U got into Mcgill? That's a great school! " the U TORONTO didn't even caught his attention there.

Finally a ranking that proves that McGill is the answer.

/all rankings are BS, wherever your favorite university stands in them

those rankings are such BS...they rank some random school in california ( UC santa brabara) over princeton

wat a bunch of retards...hahhaha...

please dont take these ranking sirously...

lol half the ranking was based on the Shanghai ranking, which McGill did poorly in. Doesn't really make a difference to me, rankings are rankings and they're all BS as Blobof suggested. Also, it doesn't change the fact that McGill is still the most famous university in Canada, no ranking will change that.

PS to show that not all rankings are the same:
2005 THES World Ranking
24 McGill
29 University of Toronto
38 University of British Columbia

2004 THES World Ranking
21 McGill
37 University of Toronto
46 University of British Columbia

What are the THES rankings. if you are referring to the ones from Shanghai U of T was ranked 24 worldwide and mcgill 62.

As for the times. U of T made a huge jump up their list and mcgill slipped. I can't recall my login or I would post that stat.

I am not knocking anyone just wanted to correct incorrect information.

THES is the times ranking. i posted the 2005 and 2004 rankings above.

you're correct, University of Toronto went from 37 to 29 after THES added an extra indicator in its ranking. so again, it shows how sensitive rankings are and essentially i think they're BS. Even University of Toronto thinks rankings are BS, they're part of a group of 11 universities that are boycotting Maclean's. So really, this kind of information is pretty irrelevant.

THES is the times higher educational supplement. it's what harvard uses on official bragging material, lol: flyers, propectuses etc.
rankings are esentially too different everywhere to matter much
