Does anyone know for the B.A. what types of required classes there are...or are there any required classes? Also, everyone says Mcgill is SOOO hard, but no one says why. Can anyone let me know? I'm really interested.

There aren’t really specific courses for the freshman program. You choose 6 credits from each of 3 out of 4 categories: Math/Science, Languages, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

6 credits is generally 2 classes, though math and science classes can often be 4 a piece.

It’s really nice since no specific classes are required. If you don’t like english, take something else. You don’t like economics, don’t have to. etc…

I can’t really say why it’s so hard. It’s pretty difficult here, but that doesnt mean you can’t do well.

Thanks for your response, it was really helpful. But do you know what the grades are based on (for example, mostly tests, reports, ect)? Also, I’m interested in political science, do you know specifically how hard it is to get an A in that field…or in any field in general.

i haven’t taken political science here, but I have friends that do. I’ll ask them what the syllabus breakdown usually is. I do know that you will usually have essays in your average political science class, just not sure exactly how much.

Of all my classes I’ve taken so far though, the average percentage breakdown for tests has been like 20% for the midterm and 30% for the final. Biggest final I’ve had was worth 20%, largest was 48%. Math and sciences though often have Final exams worth between 60-85% of the grade.

Okay, thank you so much!!!
