I was surprised to hear back last Friday with my admissions decision since I only submitted my application a few weeks ago (end of December) and my official test score even later. I was accepted on Friday into the Faculty of Science (biomedical) and the Faculty of Arts. Does anyone have any input on whether either faculty is significantly better than the other? I am leaning towards doing something on the pre-med route but am not completely set on it.
Congratulations! Can you share your stats? US high school?
Hi, yes I go to school in the US and am a US citizen. I submitted a 33 ACT, 3.98 GPA, and 8 AP classes (three that I took junior year with 4 and 5 scores). They did not ask me for my mid-year grades.
Just got into their their B.A./S.c. program Interfaculty Program! Was very pleasantly surprised by the decision letter (since I only applied like two weeks ago).
In case you’re interested in stats, I got straight As throughout high school with only Honors and AP level for core classes (with exception for senior physics, which is regular), so basically took the hardest course-load possible. Was unable to submit testing since I only had SAT and not the subject tests (they require that you either send both or neither), but in the end it didn’t matter I guess! I am a U.S. applicant from Maine.
Very excited to have this option. I applied VERY last minute so I look forward to learning more about it once I hear back from all my other schools!
@labradoodlemom @michaeluwill Yes! I got accepted into the B.A/S.c. interfaculty program without testing (see above comment lol). 4.0 UW GPA with extremely difficult course-load was enough I guess!
What is his unweighted/weighted GPA? Also, did he submit test scores?
has anyone heard back for bioengineering yet?
I don’t have much knowledge regarding individual faculty rankings, but if you are leaning towards pre-med then I would assume you would benefit the most from a BSc degree, although choosing BA would not be terrible either (since med schools accept both)–either way, congrats on your acceptance, we seem to have similar stats but I went test optional and I am still waiting on a response!
I was accepted to Faculty of Arts about a week ago, but I haven’t heard back from my first choice (Faculty of Science). Is this a bad sign, or are they just completely separate revision committees?
Completely separate. Science is more selective than Arts so decisions will come out a bit later.
Thank you!! Is there any sense yet of what the cutoff will look like for science?
I just got accepted into Bcom Desautels as an international student with a Canadian citizenship!! A level predicted A* A* A
I’m applying for engineering and saw some posts commenting that they wait for mid-year grades. As a US student, the process changed and you needed to self-report, which I did back in November. But since it was a self-reporting mechanism, I did not ask my school to send midyear grades. Was that a mistake or will they likely reopen the self-report app to update with midterm grades? It’s not currently an option so I was curious what others may know about it
My son is also a US student - he also self-reported in November and was accepted into Arts, Arts & Science, and Desautels, but for Science, his status is “Further Review Required” and mid-year grades were requested. He hasn’t received them yet so he hasn’t tried submitting but it looks like the portal is open for him to add them.
ok…so it sounds like there would be a request to submit them and the portal would reopen. That helps. Thank you!
We also applied in October and self reported in November and did not send any official transcripts. Still says ready for review without any requests… really perplexed at the process of acceptances as far as order of reviewing.
We self reported back in December. We were going to wait and submit mid term grades, they come out next week, but then saw post of acceptances with first quarter grades. App says ready for review for over a month now
There was a previous comment that the sciences were waiting for midyear grades before doing app evals. That was what prompted my question to make sure I wasn’t following some process incorrectly
I think I’ve only seen one person post about acceptance to the BSc (Agriculture and Environmental Science) program at Macdonald Campus. Has anyone else heard back on that? My daughter has been “Ready for Review” since November.
The application deadline has passed for international students for fall 2021, so hopefully we will hear soon.
