does anyone know if you can get both one year and major entrance scholarships? are they stackable or does one replace the other?

They are not stackable- one replaces the other.

i must have heard incorrectly about this then. i was told on another forum that “Major Entrance scholarship are separate and you should get notification that your portal has changed.” i have already received a one-year scholarship and my portal states that my major renewable scholarship application is “currently being reviewed by a selection committee”

My daughter was just accepted to Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Science. Further review required for Faculty of Science. She is thrilled, as McGill has always been her first choice and the Environmental Science program at MacDonald Campus is the one she wants to do.
US High School - Northeast

Perhaps I am mis-reading their website then?

Recipients of McGill centrally-administered entrance scholarships can receive only one scholarship. If you receive more than one offer, the final entrance scholarship will be that of the highest eligible value. This will not impact Faculty-specific Entrance Scholarships–please see below.

Congrats!

ah, that seems to indicate what you were initially saying, so i suppose that they are not stackable and you receive only the scholarship of the highest value. however, just because we have been awarded a one-year scholarship does not mean we are not considered for the major entrance scholarships as well. thank you so much!

No problem- admittedly, it’s a little vague so there’s still a chance I’m wrong. Depending on the faculty, McGill is a bargain by US standards either way! I am surprised more US students don’t apply.

So happy for you!!! Remember your name from the beginning of the thread- there is hope for us ready for reviewers!!! I can’t remember- were you test optional?

Thank you!!! Yes, she applied test optional.

Does McGill release admissions decisions over the weekend?

I don’t think so

Best of luck!

For those who have been accepted, what do you think about all of the restrictions still in place in Canada and more specifically, McGill? Are those restrictions affecting your decision to commit to McGill?

Scholarships are not stackable!!
My daughter was offered the one-time $3000 one with admission. But when she received the Major Renewable one, the first one went away!

I was hoping that they did release decisions over the weekend because I was told in an email last Sunday that my application would be reviewed the following week. I’ve just been stressed about it.

TBH I haven’t looked too much into yet (maybe I should though) since I am waiting on a bunch of other schools. Just got good news from a top US LAC so idk about attending McGill anymore, it seems super rad but I am kind of intimidated to go to a huge and international school, especially during COVID!

My D is waiting on McGill decision and applying from the states. My parents live in Montreal and it is kind of a mess right now. Having grown up there, I know things can move slowly in Quebec.

That is interesting, and nice, that you receive an email about your status with an update. Was it because I you had reached out, or was it unprompted? I think many of us that are in ready for review status are in a sort of limbo with no idea of when things will change.
