I will be entering my first year in undergraduate studies. I would like to decide on McGill or Queens. I would be entering Queens commerce, or McGill arts or McGill Management. Ideally I would like to apply to transfer to my ivy league school of choice so I would like to attend a school that provides me the following:
Best shot to achieve a higher GPA (I presume a 3.8 GPA is a minimum req to be competitive the ivy leagues- Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Columbia…) **most important for me.
More academic inclined
International prestige
Where would you think I should best attend based on my criteria above?
Queen’s has a nice traditional campus vibe, in a mid-size town, not dissimilar to places like Cambridge/Oxford. McGill has a large and fairly spread out campus in the centre of a major city (Montreal). Both are academically good, but if you are mainly interested in prestige, McGill is ahead.
Transferring into any Ivy from any university is more difficult than first year admission. Choose a Canadian school where you will most likely be completing your degree.
Queens Commerce is TERRIFIC. Get your degree, move to NYC to work on Wall Street or MBBs or pick your firm in any major North American city. (I’m being dead serious).
