prestigious

diverse

better education

job opportunity in the U.S. after graduation

competitiveness among students

chance of getting into Ivy-League graduate schools in the U.S.

Which one is better?? I’m applying to both schools. I’m neither Canadian nor American.

McGill by far - It's famous on an international level

McGill as well - UNC is nearly 90 percent in-staters

Depends on Major

Thats tough again depends on Major

McGill

McGill

UNC is going to carry more weight in the US over McGill except in top academic circles. On an international scale McGill is more prestigious though, hands down. If you plan on working internationally, McGill can definitely help you.

McGill. The diversity at McGill is different though than you would normally see at US schools. Lots of whites, but more diverse than anything in the US, where we measure diversity by skin color. At McGill diversity is more by culture/language. In the US we tend to think that people of the same skin color are more or less the same.

Both are huge, so both will help you become independent. I'm sure it really depends on major for which one is better, but I think McGill depts. are more often going to be a bit better than UNC's.

Depends on where. Outside of the northeast people are severely uninformed about higher education outside of the US, so most places in the US you'll probably say "i went to McGill", then they say" where's that", you say "canada", and they think you're some weirdo.

Comparing competitiveness is hard to do. Both have great reps among grad schools. I havent read into UNC's competitiveness much, but since I go to McGill, I've heard stuff before like lots of top grad schools at .3 to a McGill applicant's gpa cuz it's sooooo hard.
It's pretty difficult here, but the competition is great imo.

Both have some of the best grad placement of any schools.
