McGill vs. Carnegie Mellon: urgent!!

Help!! I was just settling down today after a trip to C.Mellon. The school made a very, very good impression on me: I had my heart set on going there. My mom was ready to send the deposit. All of a sudden I get an e-mail from McGill saying that I had been admitted off the wait list!
I am planning on majoring in math/physics. Carnegie offers an honors program to graduate with a bachelor's and master's in math in just four years. Seniors at CMU get job offers in October of their senior year from prestigious companies and firms. Not to mention the social scene and campus at CMU fit me very well. I did visit McGill, but all I saw was the campus (which was massive); I didn't get a feel for the quality of the math dept. or the social climate. Of course, the biggest advantage of McGill is the price. It's heads and shoulders below CMU, which offered me little in the way of financial aid or scholarships (still in review).

I need some quick advice! Is McGill good/cheap enough for me to forget CMU, a comfortable fit and a great school, in a good city?

If there's ambiguity, I meant to say the PRICE is heads and shoulders lower at McGill... not the schools themselves

i had the exact same decision to make as you

but cmu gave me 17000 grant

this solved it

It seems like you really like CMU. I wouldn't trade the 4 most important years of my life at someplace I was not sure of.

Morgan17

What was your EFC and your family income??

efc was about 17000

my family income is about 80000 for 4 people

my efc was about 2000 and my family income is 40000 (4 people)

CMU gave me 5555 grant and the total amount of the financial aid package as 33000...

how come i'm getting less grants than morgan when I have lower EFC and income??

financial aid re-evaluation: no reaction..
but i'm still going to CMU lol..

mcgill is like the best in canada although cmu is prob just as good. But i think the main thing is that do u wanna go to a HUGE uni or a small one
