McGill vs. William and Mary

Ok guys, thanks for your help. I knocked out GWU as a contender. I wanna major in IR and a marketable skill, like computer science or engineering.

The showdown comes to McGill vs. William and Mary.

William and Mary

Pros:
Close to home
LAC
Academic environment

Cons:
Too secluded
I’ve heard very conflicting reports regarding reputation. Idk if it’s considered top tier, e.g. UVA, UMich, or if it’s just another state school.
Too small
Under-connected
Under-funded

McGill

Pros:
Location, metropolitan feel
Ability to practice French
Ability to take a science and arts degree with ease
Niceee dorms
Price

Cons:
Idk about McGill’s rep in USA
Far away from home (my parents dont want me too far – W/M is 3 hours, McGill is 13).
People say it’s too huge
Too much red tape (but it builds character, right?)
Underfunded

Any ideas on how William and Mary stacks up against McGill?

I posted on the other thread, but I guess this is the new one so i’ll say it here too. I looked into W&M and almost committed there, but I was concerned about the isolated feel and grade deflation. I’m not obsessed with prestige, but I wanted to make sure I could get good internships/jobs, and was afraid if recruiters hadn’t heard of the school and saw a low GPA, they might look at that badly. I don’t know much about McGill though

McGill is considered to be the Harvard of Canada, number one or two consistently , phenomenal reputation all around the world .

It comes down to what type of college experience you want.

Williamsburg is a college town/tourist trap. You will spend 4 years in a semi-sheltered academic community with most of the trappings of the classic college experience.

McGill is in the middle of a thriving and at times frenetic city. You will be immersed in a different culture and a bilingual environment. It will open your eyes to how other people live. It will set you up for perhaps an international career, as it did for me. It is in no way the “classic college experience”. McGill and Montreal are not for everyone but it can be an incredible experience.

From my avatar I am biased of course.
