Has anyone ever used the McGraw-Hill SAT prep book before? I tried a practice test from it and i got a score thats completely, extremely different than I usually get. (i'm not saying the books good or bad, just pointing our the difference.)
For those of you who have used it of heard about it, what are you opinions of it? How accurate is it to the Blue book and other test prep books and to the actual tests? and the scores? etc?
Thanks!

Me too!!!

^ ‘me too’ as in you did extremely differently than what you usually do with other practice tests or one the real tests or something? Or what?

Any other opinions? Greatly appreciated. Thanks

I just finished with them.
Yes they are different, but I’ve seen weirder.
I think they’re generally more difficult.
Maybe lowering your score about 100 points.
The math their seems to be slightly more difficult then CB’s practice book.
But I figure, if you can score well on the “McGraw-Hill SAT” then the real one should be a breeze.
Although sometimes I really try to trick you, like ridiculously so.
I read on of the short excerpt things, that was like “this technique helps scientists do this, but there all these variables that may hinder the technique”
the question came about what was the purpose of the article was.
and the answer was something like “to explain a technique”.
and I like screamed because it didn’t really have to do anything with explaining the technique itself, more the variables hindering the technique.

I’m the opposite. Lol, I thought McGraw’s Tests were a lot easier and it kinda threw me off my first SAT. depends on the person.

Even I did two practice tests from McGraw-Hill. On one I scored 1870, on the second 1930. Is that good or bad? As in, should I expect a tougher or easier SAT? It would be awesome if someone could help me out here, because I’m taking SAT this weekend, on Oct 10.

I studied completely from McG last year for the October test…I usually got around a 1600-1700 mark, but for the actual exam i got 2000…still not to sure how that happened…

^
It IS harder, or maybe Different. Maybe they’re not synonymous, it’s hard to say.

Especially the Math section, it’s WAY more trickier…
BUT, I wouldn’t rule out from studying from them, but I don’t think it’s a good Idea to study completely from McG cause theirs is slightly different from College Board test exams.
I started to conform to their tests.
But after I completed my two practice tests (there’s more I just switched books), My CR score dropped a little, then went back up, and my Math score rocketed sky high.
I would usually make 470-600 on their Math sections, with College Board I almost NEVER make make under 650, and I occasionally hit an 800.

But proof from above ^
Shows that they must obviously adequately prepare you.
But It’s probably best to have a Diverse amount of books from different companies.

Just stick with CB tests.

yea, but writing section is pretty good.

Yeah that’s what I thought. The math and reading sections seemed harder. Especially math, but on reading it seemed like the articles are tougher to understand the the vocab they picked was more difficult. However, I felt the writing was about the same level as other practice tests that i have done before.
