McGraw Hill's Conquering ACT Math 2008

Hey everybody

Has anyone ever used this book or any books by McGraw Hill?

Because Math is my only weak subject, I've been using this book for the practice tests so I can hopefully do well on the April 9 exam.

I've taken two practice tests so far and I've scored 29 twice. I usually miss around 10-11 questions simply because I've not been exposed to the material before. Does anyone know if these scores are accurate or have any bearing in regards to sitting for the actual exam? I know that the bare minimum for the university is a score of 19 in mathematics.

My situation is different from most of you guys because I'm currently at a community college and I intend to transfer to a local university. My current G.P.A. is a 4.0 and I know that I do not have to have stellar scores to matriculate. I'm just very concerned because I'm applying for the fall semester and this ACT date is pretty much my one shot for this year.

I just bought the book but do not plan on using it until next week.

Here is a offical packet the ACT sent.

If you need more just pm me.

I just took a practice test from “The Real ACT Prep Guide” in mathematics and scored a 22. I guess this means that McGraw Hill is ridiculously easy and therefore worthless in gauging ability as it relates to the ACT exam.

If I only need around a 19 in mathematics to be admitted, do you guys think I’m prepared to sit for the ACT (I just got a 22 on Real ACT). Have people who used Real ACT received scores which resembled scores taken on Real ACT practice tests? I would really appreciated an answer.

Thanks!

I just completed an entire “Real ACT Prep” Practice exam and scored a 28

Breakdown:
E:30
M:22
Reading:36
Science:24

Does anyone know how this might bode for the actual act exam (Keeping in mind I’ve taken numerous practice test)?
