McIntire and study abroad

Just want to get some perspectives from people who have done this - my son wants to do a study abroad, and also hopes to get into McIntire for his 3rd year - he will start his 2nd year next week. Which semester would be the best semester to do the study abroad? How did you guys go about doing it? Where and what did you study abroad? He has a back-up plan should he not be lucky enough to get into McIntire. Thanks for any input!

My son is in McIntire. In his experience some students plan one for the summer between 2nd and 3rd year so that it doesn’t interfere with the Comm School curriculum. Some students in Comm do do a study abroad the second semester of the third year…there are a few Comm School approved programs and my Son did look into them. He decided to forgo it as he was concerned about getting in all of the courses that he wanted to do. He also is doing a double major so he had additional requirements outside of Comm to get planned into his final 2 years. He did do a 2 week January term program with a Comm professor to India and Dubia which he loved. Good luck to your son. The Comm school has been an amazing experience.
