<p>I reaaaaly want to go to USC but I can't afford it unless I get this scholarship for the instate tuition.</p>
<p>Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of getting it? When do recipients find out?
I'm from NY and have a 1310 with a 4.17W GPA in 12 APs and good ecs and i really hope i get it.</p>

<p>Out-Of-State Tuition Waivers
In addition, all out-of-state full-time Carolina Band students who are not already receiving a tuition reduction from other scholarships or sources on campus will receive a tuition reduction for the fall and spring semesters of the 2011-12 academic year. Based on the 2011-2012 tuition rates, this waiver reduces out-of-state tuition from $12,976 per semester and $25,952 per year to $7,140 per semester and $14,280 per year. That is a savings of over $11,500 for out of state students marching in the Carolina Band!</p>
<p>You do not have to be a music major to be in marching band.</p>
<p>pbojkner, you have a good shot at a scholarship - great academics. I think you are almost guaranteed something, I have no idea if it would be as much as out of state tuition though.</p>
<p>And ya, if you play a band instrument or have colorguard experiance, or are a dancer (as in dance team), or an expert baton twirler, I’d definately check out the band for scholarship money. There is also a small cash stipend that goes with any out of state tuition waivers for marching band, and more cash if you participate in the basketball pep band. They do have spring auditions for colorguard/dance/percusion, and I have been told that they will have spring auditions for every instrument this year. </p>
<p>It’s worth it just to get into the games free and for the travel opportunites. Full band went to Orlando for the Capital One bowl, they had time off at the Universal theme park and the school paid their way. They also got a couple hundred dollars travel money each before they left for Fl. For another game they flew to Arkansas. SEC football games are an amazing experiance, 70,000+ people in attendance at each game. cool stuff</p>

<p>marching band would be awesome but i’m horrible at the trumpet and theres no way they would want me (my school has a tech teacher who plays guitar teaching all band classes so we’re obviously not very good… and i’m the worst out of the kids that aren’t very good lol).if you don’t have to be amazing i’d be down but i have a feeling you’d have to be really good to be in the marching band at such a good football school.</p>

<p>Your SAT score is just below average for McKissick (average of 1344), so if you think you would raise your score any by taking it again, that probably wouldn’t hurt. All scholarships for out-of-state students include in-state tuition, so even scholarships worth slightly less, such as the Woodrow or Sims, would give you the tuition rate that you need. Make sure you do the optional essay on the main application. Have somebody proofread it to make sure it’s high quality. A good essay never hurt anybody. I think you have a real shot at it though, so don’t be so down on yourself.</p>
