@Niks: I don’t know if I would say that Terry is more louder or obnoxious than Lander. I just feel that people are more sociable? Lander has the fig communities and the honors floor, so it will probably have a more quite atmosphere. But there are also study rooms on the floors for people to use to study, and on the main floor there are study halls for students. So on the chance you got stuck in a louder floor there are places within Terry that you can go to get some studying done. Also there is a designated quiet time on floors for students to get their studying done and you can always talk to your Residential Advisor if you feel that you are not getting your studying done because of the floor noise level.

As a current resident of McMahon, I really think it sounds like the best fit for you. You socialize a lot with your cluster (group of 4 rooms that share a common area) but not so much with other groups/floors. It’s relatively quiet, but there’s events going on all the time if you want to get involved.

I’ve been to Lander/Terry quite a few times and although it seems more fun and social, I feel like I would get too caught up hanging out with everyone to focus on studying, etc. At McMahon I can keep my social life and school work a bit more separate, which is what I like =)

Good luck getting into McMahon as a freshman though… chances are you won’t get in. Make sure you have good 2nd and 3rd choices just in case.
