MD Transfer questions regarding HS gpa and transfer hours

Hi,

thank you for reading this :)

I had 2.92 high school gpa with 2010/2400, 1330/1600 SAT score. I was not accepted to college park for freshman yr 2013. I am currently enrolled in Montgomery college and am planning to get 4.0 gpa (hopefully ;)). What has been bothering me is that... will i still not get admittedto umd because of my poor HS grade..? even if i get straight A's in montgomery college?

I won't have 30semester hrs completed on march, which is the priority deadline for 2014 fall transfers. However, I WILL have 30hrs completed by end of May( i think. for mc students- when are the final transcripts available?). I am talking about this because umd says i dont have to submit HS transcript once I hit 30sem hrs. I dont know when the final transcripts are available, but i am planning to apply for regular decision which is june 1st. Do you think my plan will work out? what i'm asking is, ARE FINAL TRANSCRIPTS TYPICALLY AVAILABLE BY END OF MAY SO I CAN APPLY TO UMD WITH 30SEMESTER HOURS?

Thank you so much!
I will be waiting to hear back from you ;) <3

Many people transfer after one year at a CC. They look significantly at your CC grades, and the higher they are, the better off you are. They want to see that you’re taking studying seriously and will be successful at UMD. You’ll have to check with MC to find when final transcripts are ready, and I’d suggest you check w/ transfer admissions regarding your application date. I assume that you can apply for the priority date (with the transcript that shows first semester grades), and clearly state what classes (and how many hours) you are currently enrolled in, then send them the final transcript as soon as it is available. However, you really need to talk to someone at UMD admissions to verify this.

Can someone look at my thread and answer it. Its about applying as a transfer to umd.

As long as you aren’t graduating, your final transcript will be available about 1.5 weeks after your last final. This is right in the May 26-30 region, so it’s cutting it really close, but MC can send your transcripts over right away (and/or you can hand deliver them to the basement of the Mitchell building).
