me speak engrish

hey guys. i was just looking through various schools' freshman applications. and i noticed that TOEFL is required for students who aren't native english speakers. well the thing is, i am asian and english isn't my first language. i moved here when i was like 9. does that still mean i have to take the TOEFL test? or is that just for international students? well reply pleeeeease. thanks.

I think it really depends whether you write your native language or English in the "1st language" column of the application. If you write English is your 1st language, I guess you don't have to take TOEFL.

I don't think you need to take the TOEFL if you have completed four years of high school in the US.

Toefl is for international students

Official TOEFL scores are those reported directly to LSU by the ETS at the request of the student. TOEFL scores are valid for only two years. Applicants may be exempt from the TOEFL requirement if they have completed one of the following:

* a U.S. high school diploma, having attended all four years of high school in the U.S.
* a bachelor's degree in the U.S.
* a score of 480 on the verbal section of the SAT or a score of 20 on the English section of the ACT
* U.S. transfer requirements (minimum 2.50 cumulative gpa on 30 or more semester hours above remedial level, including a college-level course in English and in mathematics, from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university)
