Hi, I'm new to College Confedential...
I just finished my freshman year. I went to a private Islamic school my whole life and this was my first year at a public school. I didn't know much about high school or public school so I took my cousin's advice and I didn't join any activities...None! I never knew how important extra curriculars were. I have good grades, and I am planning on taking part in many activities next year, but I don't even know if I'll get into college now! What can I do to make up for that? I'm going to volunteer at a hospital as a receptionist and at a library, but is there anything else I can do? I was thinking about volunteering at a senior center and a children's museum, but will that look good on college applications? Because I really don't know too much about that, and I'm not planning on taking my cousin's advice again!

i dont think you have anything to worry about
starting volunteering in sophomore year is pretty good and it soundslike youre doing more than most people

don't do what you think is good for college apps, do what YOU want to do. try new things, find your passions and work on it!! :)

i'm sure you'll do just fine :P
