Meal plan for sophomores?

What is the best way for sophomores to buy food? Is there a mealplan service at UT? Or would it be better just to use Bevo Bux?

Dine-in dollars give you a discount at the campus eateries.

If you live on campus, you get dine in dollars, and they make it inexpensive for you to eat in the all-you-can-eat venues. (Doesn’t matter if you are a freshman or sophomore or junior or what.) They can also be used, for example, at the Littlefield Patio Cafe if you go after 2.

If you live on campus, you get $1200 Dine In Dollars and $300 Bevo Bucks for the year no matter what year you are.

Otherwise, if you aren’t in a private dorm or fraternity house, your meal plan is called the grocery store. Going to the all-you-can-eat halls on campus is a tremendous rip off. You will be better off cooking or even heating pre-frozen food than paying $8 to eat at Kinsolving.

$1300 dine in dollars for this year. ^

That is funny - LOL! :D

^^^^

Or you can make friends with someone in a co-op who can score you free food. ;D

“Littlefield Patio Cafe if you go after 2”

That is one of my favorite places to eat on campus. I suggest trying it at least once.

All students may purchase Bevo Bucks which are accepted at all DHFS locations and offer a 10% discount.

Oh, prismacolors brings up a good point. Some of the coops have for a small fee something like “guest membership” that lets you eat there but not sleep there, and all of them welcome occasional guests, especially guest who might be considering living there next year.

I should probably elaborate. I do not know if this is for all co-ops, but the rules for guests at mine are guests can eat free twice (a month, i think) and then pay like $3 for any extra meals after that.

Dinner usually is a meat dish of some kind, vegetarian version of the meat dish, a side, a salad and a dessert, some kind of drink. Some nights we have cookies.

Also, if your friend lives in the co-op you can use their kitchen to make things. So if you buy meat you can use the co-op’s seasoning, rice (we have a ton of rice), sauces, stove, etc (just not important things like meat and a ton of veggies and whatnot that are for official co-op meals) as long as your friend is with you, obviously.
