meal plan

How much is the flex max dining plan + East Lo anyways? I can’t find the info about cost anywhere on the UC websites (I wonder why…)

Flex max is like Flex 10 +$1000

Jaesango i agree with you, UCR needs to give more choices, capping at flex 10 is still low.
Even UCLA has Flex21

go to the housing site.

a Flex 21 sounds sweet

I am thinking that since the Lo and A-I restaurants are buffet style I will get a sh#tload of food put it in my back pack and go to my dorm put it in my fridge. Midnight snack mmmmmmm I did that at bearfacts with the orange chicken and pizza :)

But like, how much is flex 10 + east lo in the first place?

around 3400 a quarter i think

lol jason. you can’t bring a backpack in the dining halls. (: there are lockers outside that you have to use.

@ Jaesango, as for the 5 meal thing, i believe dining halls are only open monday to friday(?), so it is at least one meal per day.

so, like 10200…

not too bad I guess

so by 250 bearbucks or whatever
does it mean per quarter?
cuz that’s still pretty damn low

how the hell do people survive with 5 or 7?!

meal plans =

flex 5 = 5 meals + $750 dining dollars per year
flex 7 = 7 meals + $600 dining dollars per year
flex 10 = 10 meals + $450 dining dollars per year
flex max = $3,450 dining dollars per year

if the average meal is about $8, with $750 dining dollars, that’s like 93 meals.

just kidding about dining halls closed on weekends. AI only serves brunch and dinner on the weekend. I don’t know if Lothian is open though.

i cannot stress enough how much flex max is totally worth the few extra real money you have to put in. (upgrading from flex10 to max is $300) Unfortunately most first years don’t know the great places on campus to take advantage of, and end up with excess dinning dollars at the end of the year and raid the cstore. Be resourceful folks! Hit up the barn! eat at panda! check out taco fresco where all the grad students are! the barn has amazing food and is an excellent place to network with other peers and professionals. Believe me, after you’ve lived oncampus long enough, dining hall food becomes too repetitive, I only ate dinner at the lothian dining hall. Hit up the cstore, get the mochi, but some chips and party cups (ohh yeah) and hit up the sandwich grill at scottys cstore!

The freedom of not being restricted to eating at the dining halls is amazing! Never having to worry about your funds when you want food is pure bliss… Flex Max [= use it wisely haha

How often do people run out with Flex Max anyways?

wait what?!?!?
i thought flex max was infinite food
i thought that’s what i read
is there anything above flex max?

oh and isn’t it an extra thousand dollars from flex 10 to flex max?

for Flex Max you get 3450 dining dollars and Flex max is the highest
and i thought it an extra $1000 dollars as well. If i was only $300 extra, i would have definitely gotten Flex Max

well I have leftovers form financial aid so I don’t care about any extra costs… although that rules out a nice laptop for me :/

Jaesango:
$3450 is a lot, even though it doesn’t seem like it. People usually eat about two real meals a day anyway. It’s not infinite food; Everyone would get it then. I would, haha.

Assuming you stay on campus on the weekends, there would be about 210 days for three quarters. if you divide 3450 by 210, that’s about 16 dollars a day for food. Should be enough for at least two okay meals.

That’s assuming you stay on weekends, eat on campus only and don’t get food from home or something. You won’t (want to) eat on campus ONLY for the entire year. You can walk down to the University Village or even downtown if you take the bus or have a friend with a car.

So would a flex10 be enough?
Cuz i’m not planning to upgrade to flex max anyways

Sure – just space out your meals and eat other places off-campus to make sure you don’t run out of meals for the week or finish 90% of your dining dollars during the first quarter (it happens WAY too often, trust me); budget it and follow your budget.

man with flex 10 its only 2.14 a day ***. Guess I ll have to pack a sandwich every other day for it to last. Also no hitting up denny’s ( even though with most plates with 5000 mg of sodium , it wouldn’t be good for my high blood pressure :stuck_out_tongue: )
