Meal Plans?

I’m hoping someone can give me some insight into the meal plans. I plan to get my son the unlimited with the dining dollars. Where can they use the unlimited swipes plan? Is it only in the dining hall or can it be used at the other dining options? Thanks so much.

I believe it gives unlimited access to the dining hall and the dining dollars are for other campus dining options. You can call ResLife to verity. https://www.fordham.edu/info/23309/meal_plans/5612/rose_hill_meal_plans

The unlimited is definitely the best plan! Besides plenty of good food, and the ability to eat when hungry, it also allows being able to meet in the caf, or just have a coffee or tea, grab a snack or meet in small study groups or friend groups, without having to use a ‘meal swipe’. It really increases the students you’ll meet and get to know, also. For unlimited plans, there are other restaurants on campus that a meal swipe can be used at, but those are limited to 12 meal swaps a week. We didn’t find the extra Dining Dollars were that necessary - I’d recommend the one with the lower balance. And you can always add to the DD balance later.

Speaking as an LC student, I would recommend the fewest swipes and most declining cash balance. The declining cash can be used in the dining hall if you run out, and it transfers to the next semester if you don’t use it all, whereas the swipes expire.

During my freshman year, I insisted on getting the unlimited plan which turned out to be a total waste. It gives you unlimited swipes at the dining hall only which is open limited hours. The other places on campus (Cosi, Urban Kitchen, Boars Head) are very accessible and definitely are the better choices. The unlimited plan only gives you 12 meals at these places per week. The second semester I chose the 250 swipe plan and it was so much better. I was never limited to where I ate as the 250 swipes can be used anywhere on campus. As for dining dollars I always had extra at the end of the semester that I spent on random snacks to bring home when leaving.
