Hello, I am currently sophomore and finishing up my pre-professional engineering courses this semester. I will be starting my mechanical engineering courses during the summer semester with either thermodynamics or statics. However, I am concerned because I received a C+ in calculus based physics 1. I received a B+ on all three calculus courses, so it is the physics concepts I seem to be weak at. I know the courses following will be much more rigorous. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice and insight on continuing mechanical engineering.

You know your weaknesses so that is a plus. Of course you should continue with your engineering courses to see if you are still excited at the idea of making it your career. You will see most of the physics you struggled with again in your engineering courses. It may be presented in a slightly different way and that might work better for you. Furthermore, by seeing it again, and knowing that it is a weakness for you, you can pay special attention to the material and “get it” the next time.

The most important issue you face is whether engineering is still what you are interested in. If that is the case, then you should definitely persevere.
