<p>Also how rigorious is the school overall? And how hard is it for engineering classes. Is it the stereotypical engineering hell type of classes or not so bad? Finally how is mechanical engineering overall?

<p>Are you in the local-serving area?
What are your math and reading SATs?</p>
<p>Your GPA is solid! Where else are you applying? Also, for what I heard from some ME friends, the toughest classes are dynamics and thermodynamics. Some classes are the in the stereotypical insanely-tough-to-pass range. For midterms and finals, the engineering buildings are gushing while all other humans sleep… so yeah… demanding, but fun!!!</p>

Well i go to a disadvantaged school, but im doing everything i can in my school to prepare me. I’ve taken auto-cad classes if it helps? Im barely taking the SAT this june.
Ill apply to ucr, ucsd, sdsu, long beach, and a few more (any ideas? )

<p>The best advice I can give you is to practice sleeping less than 2 hours a night a few nights every week during the summer before your first quarter starts, to prepare yourself. That way by the time the quarter starts you’ll be used to it.</p>

<p>I would recommend a well-disciplined study scheduled than cramming for midterms and finals. It’s been discussed that deprivation of sleep causes:</p>
<p>Impaired memory and thought processes.
Depression.
Decreased immune response.</p>
<p>From time to time you have to do a project and will be force to work overnight. Plan ahead, drink plenty of fluids, and be well-fed. As engineers we have access to our engineering buildings 24/7, so you can take a nap in rooms with couches, lounges, etc.</p>

<p>It’s not that big of a deal after you get used to it so I wouldn’t worry about it. If you want to get a lot of sleep then you won’t have time to do anything else other than schoolwork, so you’ll probably prefer getting less sleep because that way you’ll have time to do other things.</p>
<p>Alright then so be healthy and just study throughly every week. Get some sleep but adapt to less. Finally just get used to the system so i can balance a social life, school and sleep. </p>

<p>Don’t scare the poor kid! My son studies ME at CPP and I know he gets plenty of sleep…lol. He has some difficult classes… but usually if you are planning to go into ME these classes are manageable. You will be fine. Your GPA is good, you prob need to get a better ACT score. Buy an ACT practice test book and just take the tests at home… it will help you get more familiar with the flow of the ACT. My son got an overall score of 28 on his ACT and his GPA was only a 3.55. It is getting more and more competitive though, so make sure you do good in math/science and up that ACT score. Don’t freak out about never getting to sleep, etc… you’ll be fine. :)</p>
<p>Thank you for the comfort, and yea i believe ill do fine hopefully. I know college will be fun and hard. I just need to relax. Ill have my sleep and social time. Being an engineer is going to be one hell of a trip. </p>
