I was curious as to which school I should transfer to. Is RIT really that much better than UB? Is the chance of getting a job in Mechanical Engineering out of RIT greater than graduating with the degree from UB? Im mainly concerned about the cost of RIT and if it is worth the money.

I’m currently in the exact same position as you I got accepted to both school but can’t decide to choose one over the other! While R-I-T may have that co-op program to get you jobs UB has a bigger “last name” being ranked as a National University while R I T is just a good college for the area.

However RIT has smaller class sizes, the freshman and sophomore classes at UB ranged from 100-300 students, so if you want to be known as a number UB is the way to go and even for Junior and Seniors the class sizes were an average of 20-50 students in UB is the survival of the fittest and good luck getting a non-scripted Recomendation Letter after you graduate you’ll need it.

R I T has smaller class sizes and the co-op program but lacks the big “last name” and is way expensive and the weather is not as bad as Buffalo, I am an EOP student so the only reason why I would go to R I T is if you are really concern about working straight out of school, UB cares little for their undergrad studentn and I am heavily concern with getting little debt straight to Grad School so is up to you!
