Mechanical engineering UIUC or UT Austin??

Hello guys, I have been admitted to both of the universities above and is now hesitating to finally choose one to enter. Any suggestion?
I dont really care about the difference in the tuition fees. The things I want to look at are more towards undergraduate mechanical engineering standards, lecturers, social life, future graduate program chances and perhaps the research opportunities in these two universities if to be compared. I am also concerned about my future job opportunities. Thank you for any feedback. :)

of course UT ,plus you will live in Austin
if you care about rankings ,it is not a big deal ,UIUC is #5 and UT is #8 so they both rocks.
the thing which should you think about now while you don’t care about tuition is the lifestyle ,for me I like the South ,and you may like the North areas.
I do envy you man :)

First of all, there is no “of course” decision here. Both schools are very good and will give you a top notch education with plenty of job or graduate school opportunities.

UIUC has the slightly better program, though it won’t likely make a difference in the long run. UIUC also has a more diverse student body if you are into that sort of thing.

UT on the other hand still has a great program and has a reasonably diverse student body and is in what I would consider a more fun city.

Really it is a personal choice. There isn’t a good way for us to tell you which one to choose.
