Mechanical Engineering

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I was wondering whether someone familiar with Carnegie Mellon's engineering program could tell me my chances of being accepted. I am also interested in Lehigh University, Drexel, Stevens Inst of Tech, and Bucknell for mechanical engineering.

My scores are:
3.7 GPA UW 6.2 W (on scale of 7)
2170 SAT (720 CR, 720 M, 730 W)
4 on AP Chem
710 Chem SAT II

Classes:
I take mostly Honors and APs (the only class I don't take as Honors is english...)
As of now I have only taken 1 AP (Chem) but senior year I plan on taking Calc AP, Econ AP, Latin AP, and Physics AP.

Extra Curriculars:
Marching Band (leader)
Jazz Band (leader)
Small Group Jazz Band
Lab Band
Symphony Orchestra
Pit Orchestra
Cum Laude Society
Programming Club (leader)
Research in Science
Robotics Club (tournament winner)

I also have won several awards from the Leonardo DaVinci society, the Air Force, UPenn, a scholarship from a county college, and first place in Computer Science at local and regional science fairs for my projects.

I work as a professional musician for a local theater company and as a private tutor for programming.

You have a decent chance. MechE you say? Try taking the SAT II math and physics. They like at least 2 SAT IIs. Also, try to raise your math score on the SAT I to above 750 if you’ve got the time.

Your AP and Sta II scores are really weak. You’ll probably get rejected. Your GPA is pretty bad as well.

Apply ED if you want to get in. Your chances are still slim though. Apply to UIUC, UT Austin, Penn State and Georgia Tech. You should get in there. They are good schools as well.
