So I know they say not to use a mechanical pencil on the test because it can be scored wrong or whatever, but i was wondering if it would be okay to use it on the essay. My writing is VERY messy, and being able to use a mechanical pencil would help my reader so much. What do u think about me using a mechanical pencil for the essay only?

NO...simple answer.

who cares? i used a mechanical pencil for ap's, sat, sat ii, act, and basically every other standardized test. THEY DON'T CARE!
if you don't feel comfortable, use a .07 so it looks like a "sharpened soft lead #2 pencil" i actually don't go w/ the .05 because it scratches the paper too much + takes longer to fill in bubble

wth? why can't you use a mechanical pencil??? just make sure it's #2...

i used a mechanical pencil for every standardized test i've taken in high school

The admission ticket from the ACT says that mechanical pencils are NOT allowed. I would really listen to what the test makers say.
