MECOP experiences

My son is trying to decide between OSU and some other schools for ME. He is really interested in coop programs and has been selected for MECOP. His concern is that the coops available through MECOP may not be that interesting. Does anyone have any experiences with MECOP and whether they were interesting coops?

My son is interested in Oregon State for computer science. He’s a high school junior. I thought he would have to apply for MECOP after matriculation.

Are you saying that it’s possible to gain admission to OSU and MECOP at the same time?

In the early spring of senior year they do invite some high performing seniors to interview for MECOP. If your son gets invited-I would take advantage of it. There is an application to fill out and then you go on a Saturday for presentation and interview. If he gets in, then it saves the uncertainty and application process which is usually done during sophomore year of college.

Good to know! Thanks.

Anyone have any firsthand experience with MECOP? I did get more info from the MECOP website. They have a list of participating companies there and some info on about half of the companies. After looking into them, my son agreed that they looked more interesting than he had initially thought. We also heard about someone that was starting a coop at Intel and he said Intel had taken about 90 coop students this year.
