Hey I'm 21 and a college drop out. Kicked out due to failing. Was pursuing cse/ee have about 140+ credits. Took some time off but now I want a career change. Need help and support with attempting to pursue the medical field. I know I need to take biology and ochem. But what else before I can apply to medical school? Mcat? B.S. degree? Etc. Ideal it will be very challenging because my grades were very poor the last time around but what I can do to move forward and reach my dreams of being a doctor?

Since you have so many credits and a low GPA (how low?), your ability to repair to have a MD-school acceptable GPA is unlikely.

However, DO schools allow grade-replacement, so not only would you be able to produce a better BCMP GPA, but you might be able to repair your cum GPA.

Are those quarter credits or semester credits?

Who will pay for your return to school?

Quarter credits.
Cost of school will be from family, working and financial aid if I can reapply.
I went to a community college for running start so my gpa was 3.5 going into UW but it’s aroung 1.5 or so at the University.

Plan was to go back to community college for a more affordable cost to taking biology and chem.

If you did Running Start, aren’t you done with CC?

Or do you mean that you’re going to go to a CC just to take the premed prereqs?

Taking the prereqs.

Look in to other medical careers for the immediate term. Consider tech certification, for example…you already used up your “dependent child” phase of life, now you need to approach your path as a “non traditional” and take the longer way around. If you can transfer credits for a nursing degree, that would be a dream come true for you, then you could work in the field for a while and later on add NP work to expand your options.

and yes, you will need an undergraduate degree (BS or BA, doesn’t matter).

Take general ed courses at the juco, and Gen Chem, but try to leave Organic and other upper division science courses for U-Dub. (you will need to demonstrate strength in the sciences at a 4-year Uni.)

Suggest you make an appointment with a counselor at U-Dub and ask what you need to do to get back in, (perhaps as a probationary student?)…what courses can you take at the local judo to demonstrate that you are now ready to tackle the big U?

You’ll need A’s and lots of 'em.

I think the only hope is a DO program. with all those credits and a low GPA, only great replacement will save him
