i was just wondering what college extracurriculars would be useful in applying to med school - apart from the obvious hospital volunteering, research, shadowing doctors and all that. its the whole issue of whether med school adcoms will consider someone who is in a fraternity, soccer team, and school orchestra with more favor because they have an 'expanded perspective of the world' - just like someone who majors in architecture instead of the perfunctory biology or chemistry premed-ers. is this just a myth, or should i get out and join the literary club?
