I'm 15 and going to be a junior. i've pretty much decided i want to be a doctor but i want to go to a college where i'll have options, if i change my mind later on. I'm thinking something in psychology/english/maybe even journalism as my backups. i'd also like to stay in in my home state, illinois. can anyone tell me what good schools there are with good pre-med programs and good english/journalism programs, if that even exists? thanks so much.

Northwestern hits the spot for everything you said above.

Your state university has every one of those characteristics. Will you have $250k for med school in addition to what you'd pay at Northwestern? If so, Northwestern is a terrrific choice.

thanks. but i'm one of those kids that needs financial aid and a lot of it. my parents had this idea that i could go to my local community college (college of du page) to do my prerequisites, and then try my chances at a med school. what do you think my chances would be coming from a community college?

I'm pretty sure that most, if not all, American medical schools require a BA or BS degree. I think I heard somewhere though, that some people will start off at a community college, and then transfer to a university.

Sorry, forgot to put this in my last post: If you go to the pre-med section of this forum, you could probably get some more advice regarding pre-med, med school, financing your education, etc.

thanks! i'll check that out.
