Someone in this forum mentioned that med schools look at highschool GPAs...
I mean its not like I have a terrible highschool GPA until now(I'm a junior HS), but I've always had in mind that when I go to college I'll will start fresh and nice and forget all highschool things.

And then somebody just casually tells me med schools also look at highschool GPAs. Like what the hell? Why would they? I dont know for you guys but at least for me this is like getting struck by a lightning all of a sudden.

Which med schools check GPAs? Only a selective few or most?
Do they also look at SATs?

During the regular admissions process, no medical schools look at your high school GPA or your SATs. However, if you’re applying for an early admission program, medical schools may well ask for those numbers.

OP,
Are you referring to my post on a recent thread that stated that COLLEGE courses are counted in your gpa even if they are taken in HS?

There are occasionally schools (WashU?) that ask you to provide your SAT scores and high school GPA for statistical purposes.

NO med school will NOT look at your high school transcript. It is irrelevant. Only college classes will be considered. If you take A college course (not AP or IB, those credits don’t count by the way), those grades will be counted. Say you are a senior and take College English I at Harvard Community College. The grade you get in that class is on your college transcript and will be counted. But no high school class will count. I am assuming youre not applying for a BS/MD program.
Oh and they don’t look at SAT neither. High school is not a factor. Only college scores. Your MCAT will count, which is the SAT of med school. You take that usually at the end of your junior year in college.

No I’m not referring to your recent post entomom. I was searching something random in google which led me to a 2008 post in CC.
