So initially, i was going to do a double-major with media studies and film but then i started thinking about my career and what i really wanted to do and being a production assistant didn't sound very appealing.....

I am now planning on taking cs 3L and berkeley then the 61 series.

What do you guys think of the media studies major and computer science minor combo?

In terms of job and career prospects, probably better than Media Studies alone, but not as good as a CS major.

If you want to maximize your CS minor’s usefulness in industry software development jobs, consider choosing your junior/senior level CS courses from CS 162, 169, 170, 186, 161 (and perhaps add EE 122 if you can). 160 may be useful in the context of relating to Media Studies.

Then again, why not take all of them and make CS a second major? Media Studies major = about 12 courses, CS major = about 15 courses. Out of a typical 32 or so courses taken over 8 semesters, that would still leave about 5 courses for breadth (not satisfied by the majors) and free electives.

If you are more interested in IT jobs, the best “value” CS courses for that are probably 162, 186, 161, and EE 122 (no need to major in CS for IT jobs).
